Lex Rü

Alex Deroo is a musician, actor, and producer currently residing in Boston, MA.  He grew up in the North Shore of MA and considers himself a native of this region (he might even be working on a whole crazy ass mixtape about the place, but we’ll stay tuned to that).  Alex has always harbored a deep passion for the arts in all its forms.  He has performed in theatrical productions across the Boston/North Shore area for quite some time now, often seen on a Shakespearean stage.  After playing dream roles such as Hamlet (Hamlet), Iago (Othello), and Jaques (As You Like It), he has since returned to another artistic passion, music.

Alex started playing music long ago as a drummer, and will always primarily be a rhythmic based musician.  Whether it be drums, percussion, rhythm guitar, bass, synth, sampling, singing or rapping, Lex is always looking to translate his sense of rhythm and storytelling to music.  After playing in bands throughout high school and college, there was a period of no musical activity for Mr. Deroo.  Until 2023, when he and four of his closest friends formed The Wellwishers’ Union Music Label & Artist Collective. 

Thus Lex Rü was born.

Lex Roo/Ru was always one of many nicknames that his friends had called him.  When deciding a musical moniker to adopt, Alex wasn’t sure whether to use one name to encompass his many musical ideas, or to be mysterious with separate names for each project.  After probably overthinking it, he finally settled on Lex Rü, always loving the German alphabetical letter ü (which phonetically sounds like “oo”).

Lex Rü is still very much in the early stages of his discography, but he has many, many ideas brewing that he can’t wait to fully realize with the support of the WWU community.  Lex had always viewed himself as a drummer on other peoples music, but with the launch of The Wellwishers’ Union, he now feels revitalizing freedom to make his artistic visions come to life under the WWU roof, whether that is solo projects or collaborations with other WWU members.

The first beat tape that was completed by Lex Rü is House Logic.  Five House beats that represent one of the many musical facets of Lex Rü.  Inspired by night time cityscapes, life's constant motion regardless of one's circumstances, and electronic dance music, House Logic is a modest but exciting debut release for Lex Rü.

GRIME TIME LIVE

The second beat tape by Lex Rü is GRIME TIME LIVE.  A very spontaneous beat tape that came from dogsitting in his hometown of Reading, MA.  This beat tape is heavily inspired by his recent venture into the bountiful renaissance occurring in underground hip hop currently.  It was also made during the best time of year in the east coast, Fall.  GTL is spooky vibes, grimey boom bap, horror movies, monsters, spirits, and chilling in your hometown with your dog.
