Yeahfactory
Yeahfactory is the solo music project of singer/songwriter/instrumentalist/producer Ben Finn. Having written, recorded and performed under various monikers for over a decade prior, Finn launched the Yeahfactory project upon moving from Boston to Los Angeles in late 2021. Taking influence in equal measure from folk/lo-fi pioneers like Phil Elverum, Liz Harris, Adrienne Lenker and Daniel Johnston and industrial/noise-pop auteurs like Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, Finn seeks to create a sonic landscape where shocking, intriguing, and often haunting intersections occur.
Hell Is My Body
Hell Is My Body, the debut release from Yeahfactory, was born from a period of sustained physical and mental burnout compounded by the horrors of frontline work during a pandemic, financial instability, labor exploitation, and the creeping physiological distress and dysphoria from being stuck in survival mode. Unchecked trauma and mental illness is exacerbated by the lived reality of extreme overexertion throughout a heightened late-stage capital crisis. Through a minefield of misfiring synapses and frayed nerves, waking nightmares and smothering body panic, the struggle to both embrace and overcome one’s past self, there is a broader battle: one between the acoustic and electronic, the organic and synthetic, the natural and the processed. Songs are interrupted, stomped on, spat on, eaten, engulfed in flames, engorged by disease; all of this the backdrop of a candid struggle against madness and being swallowed whole by one’s circumstances.
